Yleiselektroniikka's and Škoda Transtech's collaboration result: Even more passenger friendly tram
The tram manufactured by Škoda Transtech Oy, which will start operating in Tampere in August next year, is of the highest quality in public transport: there are 104 seats for passengers and a total of 264 passengers can be transported. Despite the even greater passenger capacity, comfort has not been compromised. As a result of the cooperation between Yleiselektroniikka and Škoda Transtech, it is now even more comfortable to travel in tramcars.

New tramcars of Tampere are a part of Transtech's Artic-product family, more specifically Smart Artic X34 Tampere type. New wider tramcar combined with 37,3 meter length, creates a bright and relaxed atmosphere. The visual look of the cars has been invested in with seat upholstery and text art that decorates the windows. In addition, there has been a concrete focus on passenger friendliness with accessories, such as charging plugs for mobile devices.
Possibility to charge mobile devices on new trams
Nowadays, mobile devices are playing an increasing role in people’s lives. As technology advances, large screens and versatile software on smartphones are consuming battery power faster than before. This has led to an increased need to charge the devices during the day as well. Škoda Transtech wanted to meet this challenge of the townspeople by offering the possibility of charging on trams, and the best option to this was explored together with experts in Yleiselektroniikka.

Alfatronix charging plugs, which are very high-quality and well-suited for tram traffic, were eventually selected from the versatile manufacturer representations of Yleiselektroniikka. One of the selection criteria was partly strict quality standards in rail transport, such as BS-EN50498 & ISO-7637-2, which can be achieved with Alfatronix equipment. In addition to the stylish design, the charging plugs for mobile devices installed in Transtech's trams are also self-extinguishing (V0 rating) and impact-resistant polycarbonite.
”Collaboration with Yleiselektroniikka has been fruitful and we will continue to work together in the future to find new solutions to improve the travel experience”, says Škoda Transtech's sales and product family's development manager Ollipekka Heikkilä.
